Are You A Bikini Weather Dieter? (and how's that working for you?)

👙 Truth test! Are you a bikini weather dieter, and how is that working for you?
Spring has sprung and summer is just around the corner! Before we know it, we’ll be reaching for tank tops, shorts, flip flops and yes, bikinis. For some of us, the idea of wearing any kind of bathing suit is terrifying.
Have you ever gone on a crash diet to lose weight fast for a special occasion? Like a wedding or a tropical vacation? If so, then you are officially a ‘bikini-season dieter’ and likely suffer from yo-yo dieting as well.
Being a bikini-season dieter means that you make dramatic and restrictive changes to your diet in hopes of losing weight fast. Even though you know it won’t be sustainable long-term, you still choose to go the extreme route because you think it will give you the immediate results you crave.
Dramatic and restrictive changes ... unsustainable and hard to follow
Unfortunately, bikini-season diets rarely work because they’re unsustainable and hard to follow. They’re stressful on the body and the psyche. You end up feeling like you failed, again. And you end up hiding under baggy clothes on hot summer days.
The good news is there are ways to shed unwanted weight – and keep it off – that don’t involve an ounce of starvation, deprivation or self-loathing.
Small, gradual changes!
Incorporating small, gradual changes into your lifestyle is the best way to more the needle in the right direction. True, these changes will not happen as quickly as the results you may get if you skip meals or only eat grapefruit for a month. But if you’re getting sick of grapefruit and the ups and downs and constant stress of yo-yo dieting, then maybe it’s time to look at where you can make these little changes. And it’s only April, so the time to start is now.
This week, try swapping out soft drinks with filtered or carbonated water with a twist of lime. That little change alone will pull loads of sugar out of your diet but still leave you with the feeling that you had a little treat! Fill a bowl with blueberries instead of M&M’s. Have a chocolate craving? Eat a homemade energy ball. Walk for 10 minutes. Do 10 jumping jacks every hour. Take the stairs. In the long run, it’s actually easier to maintain these small gradual changes. Then start stacking them one on top of the other.
Another way is to REBOOT your metabolism and circle back to healthier eating habits with a Spring Cleanse. And what better way than to do a whole food cleanse that nourishes your body and doesn’t leave you feeling deprived. There isn’t anything extreme about it. The only thing better is to do it with a group of like-minded women for support and the occasional kick-in-the-pants accountability!
